‘The Imitation Game’

The wintry weather was in full effect last week, but it dampen the enthusiasm of our keen film-going members!  ‘The Imitation Game’ scored an average of 4.55 stars.  If you missed it, don’t forget that members can borrow any of our films on DVD/Blu-ray to enjoy at home.

Stephen Hawking, Sherlock Holmes and Julian Assange

What do these three identities have in common?  Why, they’ve all been played by the esteemed Benedict Cumberbatch!

Benedict Cumberbatch is an award winning actor with pretty much the best name in the business, and in ‘The Imitation Game’ he uses his talents to portray Alan Turing, the English code-breaker and creator of ‘Enigma’.  Turing and his team set out to crack the German codes during WWII, but the secrets held within the organisation are nearly as hard to decipher as those being intercepted from the Nazis.

Come along to the Killara Centre on Thursday 1st June at 7.30pm to try and crack the code…

April screening – Moonrise Kingdom

Corangamite Film Society members have been treated to an interesting selection of films already this year.  From the strange confusion of ‘The Lobster’ in February, we moved on to the apocalyptic ‘These Final Hours’ in March – and now we are set for a whimsical and charming Wes Anderson film, ‘Moonrise Kingdom’.  Whether it’s your first foray into the world of Wes Anderson or you are a seasoned Wesophile, we hope to see you there!

‘Moonrise Kingdom’ screens at the Killara Centre on Thursday 6th April at 7.30pm
