Wicked Little Letters is a 2023 British black comedy. Set in the 1920s seaside town of Littlehampton, the film is inspired by the true story of the “Littlehampton libels.” The narrative follows Edith Swan (Olivia Colman), a devout Christian spinster, who begins receiving a series of obscene and anonymous letters. Suspicion quickly falls on her outspoken Irish neighbour, Rose Gooding (Jessie Buckley), leading to Rose’s arrest and a potential loss of custody of her daughter. As the scandal escalates, a young female police officer, Gladys Moss (Anjana Vasan), takes it upon herself to uncover the truth.

The film delves into themes of societal prejudice, gender roles, and the power of community, all while delivering sharp wit and period charm.
