SURVIVAL OF KINDNESS screens at 7.30pm on Thursday 4 September 2025 in the Killara Centre, Camperdown. Rated M, Australian, 2022, Running Time 1hr 36min.

The Survival of Kindness is a 2022 Australian drama directed by Rolf de Heer. The film follows a mysterious Black woman known only as BlackWoman, who is left to die in a cage in the desert. After escaping, she embarks on a harrowing journey through a dystopian landscape marked by cruelty, oppression, and racial violence. With minimal dialogue, the film uses powerful visuals and symbolism to explore themes of humanity, resilience, and systemic injustice. As BlackWoman seeks freedom and connection, her odyssey becomes a haunting allegory for colonisation and survival.

The film challenges viewers with its stark, poetic storytelling.

$10 entry for guests or $30 for a 3 x film membership subscription. The entry fee includes supper and refreshments after the screening. No bookings required, just arrive before 7.30pm at the Killara Centre, Camperdown.
