Thursday Pictures – BLANCANIEVES

Thursday 3rd April 2025 – 7:30pm @ Killara Centre, Camperdown

‘Blancanieves’ is a Spanish term that translates as Snow White, which we know as the traditional German folk tale first published by the Brothers Grimm in 1812. Blancanieves, the award-winning film, is based on the original tale but follows a parallel narrative set in 1920s Spain. Pablo Berger, who directed the film, spent years putting it together. His intention was to create a tribute to silent film, and to demonstrate how powerful silent film can be, even today. The film is a mesmerizing and poignant retelling of Snow White, exploring themes of love, identity, and empowerment.
