“The Babadook” (2014) is a psychological horror film directed by Jennifer Kent. The story follows Amelia (Essie Davis), a widowed mother still grieving the death of her husband. Her son, Samuel (Noah Wiseman), is a troubled child who is haunted by monsters. After reading a disturbing children’s book, “The Babadook”, Samuel becomes convinced that the monster is real and invading their home. As the Babadook’s presence intensifies, Amelia’s sanity unravels, and she is forced to confront her own dark emotions and the trauma of her past.

The film explores themes of grief, motherhood, and mental illness.

$10 entry for guests or $30 for a 3 x film membership subscription. The entry fee includes supper and refreshments after the screening. No bookings required, just arrive before 7.30pm at the Killara Centre, Camperdown.
