The Breaker Upperers is a 2018 New Zealand romantic-comedy written and directed by Madeleine Sami and Jackie van Beek.

The film is a quirky, irreverent take on love, relationships, and breakups.

The story revolves around two women, Mel (Madeleine Sami) and Jen (Jackie van Beek), who run a small-time business specialising in breaking up couples too afraid or lazy to do it themselves.

The duo has a strong bond, rooted in their mutual cynicism about love after their own romantic failures.

Their methods are unconventional and often outrageous, ranging from impersonating police officers to staging dramatic infidelities.

The film is a blend of deadpan humour, slapstick, and heartfelt moments.

It explores themes of friendship, vulnerability, and the absurdities of modern relationships, all delivered with a distinct Kiwi comedic sensibility.
