Leo and Remi are two thirteen-year-old best friends, whose close friendship is thrown into disarray when their schoolmates notice their intimacy, causing a rift between them.

This 2022 coming-of-age drama film was directed by Lukas Dhont, and written by Dhont and Angelo Tijssens, re-teaming after their first feature film Girl (2018). The film is a co-production between Belgium, France and the Netherlands.

CLOSE is Dhont’s second film and won the Grand Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival in 2022. The film is an emotionally transformative and unforgettable portrait of the intersection of friendship and love, identity and independence, and heartbreak and healing.
