OPENING NIGHT: DARLINGTON

Fisherman’s Friends

A cynical London music executive heads to Cornwall for a friend’s stag weekend, and hears a singing group of ten Cornish fisherman. Thinking they can achieve a top ten hit, he tries to sign them up, but they are skeptical about the music business.

The Gold Rush

A lone prospector ventures into Alaska looking for gold. He gets mixed up with some burly characters, falls in love with a beautiful woman and tries to win her heart. 
This Charlie Chaplin classic silent movie will feature live musical accompaniment by Richard Tankard.

PHOENIX PROJECT COBDEN

The Dry
Australia (MA15+) 2020 Crime/Drama 1hr 57min
Federal Agent Aaron Falk returns to his drought-stricken home town to attend the funeral of his childhood friend, Luke, who allegedly killed his wife and child before taking his own life. Falk reluctantly agrees to stay and investigate the crime and reopens the door to the unsolved death of a teenage girl 20 years before.

Australia’s Top Short Films: Award Winners & Director’s Choice
The St Kilda Film Festival is Australia’s longest running short film festival. This year it hits the road, taking the best of the festival to destinations throughout Victoria. Enjoy a curated screening featuring a selection of Australia’s Top Short Films presented across two sessions: Award Winners and Director’s Choice (with a short intermission between sessions).

First Cow

Two travellers, a skilled cook and a Chinese immigrant, are on the run from a band of vengeful hunters in 1820s Oregon. They dream of striking it rich and soon collaborate, but their tenuous plan to make their fortune on the frontier comes to rely on the secret use of a landowner’s prized dairy cow.
